There are people who complain that prosperity is so unequally distributed that they would like to make everyone equal. This must be rejected. It is good that people are different, also from a socio-economic point of view; it is good that there are exploiters and exploited, those who live at the expense of others and those who make it possible for them, through their work and sweat, to lead beautiful lives. If everyone had to live and work under the same conditions, everyone would suffer equally. It is good that there are privileged and less privileged.
But it must be possible for the less privileged to move up into the class of the privileged if they prove to be particularly capable because of their hereditary predispositions, deeds and ideas. This right must be granted to them, therefore fair wages must be paid. It is not acceptable for workers to be held down artificially so that they must remain workers forever and ever. Social advancement must be possible. But only to those who prove themselves capable.
That is liberalism.
Those who are outraged by my statements are in the wrong party with NEOS. The others simply did not express it as clearly and unvarnishedly as I did.
